Haudi. Osaisiko joku kertoa, mistä/minkalaisista malleista mahtaa olla kyse, kun tuli tänään Unkarilaisella kirppiksellä vastaan itänaapurikameroiden seasta ehta epeli ja pari kakkulaa. Eli päälikannessa oli Ernst Leitz Westlar ja D.R.P. Rungon sarjanumero on 153610. Objektiivi on kierteellä ja kakkulana on Leitz Elmar 1:3,5 f 50mm, sekä Elmar f=9cm 1:4 srnro 759222. Runko vaikuttas toimivan korvakuulolta ja on ihan siistin näköinen, objektiivit ovat oikein siistin näkösiä. Mittaetsin vaikutti olevan kohdallaan. Sain varattua setin huomiseksi, ja mietin tässä että raaskisinko ostaa sen pois, sain tapeltua hinnan setistä tasan 300 euroon. Ajattelin kysästä täältä, kun mulla ei noista vanhoista raudoista ole hajua. Tänks.

While the forger did his stinking best to make the camera as good a forgery as possible, the bag was often overlooked and crudely falsified. The forgers ground off the original logo, leaving bare, untreated leather. In that crude leather, the forgers burnt (!) a basic 'Leica' logo with a hot rod. In contrast, the original Leica bags were fine products made of real and pretty leather, and excellently finished. Leica-like, say. Look at the lens. Usually an 'Elmar' of some sort, it gives the camera away by the inscriptions on the facade. Real Leitz lenses have the focal length stated in 'cm' and lowercase 'f' (for example: 'f=5cm'), whereas Russian forgeries have the focal length in 'mm' and uppercase 'F' (for example: 'F=50mm'). A fact practically always overseen by the forgers. Some fake Leicas have a 'soup bowl' shutter release collar; something untypical of Leicas. The rewind knob sometimes has a (Russian) 'В' on it instead of a (German) 'R'. The bottom plate of an original Leica says 'Auf' (open) and 'Zu' (close), instead of the Russian 'Откр' and 'Закр'. Also, Leicas have a white drawing on the inside, depicting the correct way to insert film. Russian forgeries usually lack these. If the camera has a polished top that shines like hell, then rest assured with the knowledge that your camera was once a Zorki or FED, the top plate of which the forgers polished clean of all the previous factory inscriptions. False, your honor. Leicas have a particular shaped rim around the viewing window: a small ridge with a bulge for a screw. Zorkis and FEDs have a massive rectangular plate there, without an apparent bulge. Zorkis and FEDs have an enamelled ring around the lens mount, while on Leicas the lens lens seems to be screwed right into the skin. Some early forgeries still have the FED's or Zorki's ring, but on most forgeries this is corrected. Face it: the Russian cameras don't have the German Leica feel of massive solidity and reliability. Once you've had a real Leica-III in your hands, you'll know what I mean. Russian forgeries feel thin and weak in comparison. Beware of any spelling mistakes. It's Wehrmacht, Bildberichter, Ernst Leitz Wetzlar, Luftwaffe. Common sense is a good source of advice too. Just think: who in the world would sell a real Leica with an Adolf Hitler engraving for something like a hundred dollars? Nobody is that stupid. Besides, if it did turn out to be a genuine Leica, you're probably guilty of fencing.

Vs: vanhoista leicoista Se on kyllä perseestä, että noita vanhoja Leicoja ei oikeen tohdi ostaa muualta kuin tunnetuilta myyjiltä. Mulla herää kyllä epäilykset heti, jos puhutaan että on laitettu kirpparille myyntiin. Käys kysymässä myyjältä miksei ole laittanut tuota ebay:n myyntiin? Ja oliko "Ernst Leitz Westlar" sun typottama, vai lukeeko tuossa oikeesti westlar?
